Gotta love the mass storage icon you get when you hook the N900 upto a mac.
It auto opens iPhoto in mass storage mode to let you import your pics with a single click.
Night Shooting, I thought I would try taking pictures at night, expecting terrible results. But the N900 coped really really well. As good as any dedicated compact camera.
You can check them out here.
Wow, this camera ROCKS. An unedited stream of sample photos are here. One nice thing is that if the N900 is in screen lock mode and you open the camera cover, it goes straight into the camera app, then on closing the cover goes back into screen lock/sleep. A nice tough for speedy camera use.
Geo Tagging, ‘just works’ out of the box no hassle, and flickr/ovi uploading is as easy as its ever been via the share icon. Nicely done, and along way forward from the multiple click solutions way back on the N70.
Here is the obligatory unboxing photo set. With some size comparisons with the 5800 and iPhone 3G[s].
Here is a video of the set up procedure, its really visual, and its what happens on first power up. The bits where it looks like its not reponding to my touch, is where i was looking at what i was doing via the cam screen, when i looked over to the phone it became a breeze.
The intro video is shown, and it auto sets up the internet access, so you can google immediately. Though as that is done - it could skip the date time bit and check that from the internet.
speedy
wow, that photo uploaded quickly. I am on a train, have 3.5G on T Mobile.
ok so, day one. I had a little play last night. I am on a train right now so bored as i haven’t loaded up and music or video yet. So here is a picture I took last night. Indoors, artificial light, it didn’t need the flash. I am finding the keyboard a bit un comfortable typing this length of text, making a few mistakes, mainly when doing CAPS or punctuation, which will take some getting used to. my fingeras do often hit the case when using the top row but it isn’t really an issue more lack of use, your fingers so build up a memory for use patterns.
Welcome, This site will be the home of fictional month of MAMEOBER. Mameober is a month of immersive usage in the new Nokia N900, the first phone to ship with the linux variant maemo 5. I intend to use an N900 in place of any other phone, media player and as much as possible computer. Now this isn’t what the N900 has been designed for, but its getting more and more realisitic to use mobile devices in place of desktop machines.
I’ll need to use computers at work, and for recording tv shows etc. but As much as possible i will be only using an N900 for 28 days.
